How it Works

Biking in Barrie is a crowdsourced, volunteer run site that houses the Barrie Bike Parking map – a map of bike parking (or lack of) across the City of Barrie, Ontario. Crowdsourced means that anyone – you – can contribute to this community resource! The map was created in Proxi, a free map-making site that is based off of Google Maps data. It allows anyone to add locations to the map.

Below are the simple steps to add to the map:

1. Click on the ‘Add Point’ button at the bottom left of the map.

2. Select the bike parking category that best describes the location you are adding.

3. Choose your point. You can search for a place by typing in the name or address.

4. Optional: Add any details
(like which side of the building the bike rack is located on or if you’ve noticed that it gets blocked regularly).

5. Optional: Add a picture! This can help others understand the details that you included or find the bike parking.

6. Finally, it will ask for your email address so that you can edit or remove your point if you choose to later.

7. Click ‘Save and Add’ to add your point or ‘Save & Suggest Another’ if you want to add another point right away.

Thank you! You’ve contributed to a grassroots community resource to help more people go places by bike!
